Sofia Coppola

I am a believer that cinema is an art, a complex art with many elements.
The cinema - unfortunately - is a world of men in which there are few women who have the possibility to stand out.
To the filmmaker that I want to highlight is Sofia Coppola, yes, Sofia Coppola.
Ok, as an actress is not very good but as a filmmaker I can say that she must be one of the best writers in the world.
As I read in a magazine, Sofia Coppola is one of the few figures capable of transmitting the sensation of being alone in the world even if you are in Tokyo - a city of nine million inhabitants.
I connect with the Sofia cinema for its themes close to adolescence but above all for being films with feminine perspectives.
Sofia's films have different artistic elements that make me like them, the main one is the theme, however, it has other important ones that are related to the visual, such as textures and pastel colors.
The silence in his films, which many may find boring, for me are spaces for reflection, in spite of this, the films fulfill pop cultural elements and do not lose their cinematographic quality.
Sofia Coppola is a woman that I admire deeply, because despite not having had a good acting career, she was able to leave the shadow of her family, her father and be able to shine for herself.
If I do a ranking of my favorite movies of her, I rank "Lost in translation" first.
It's one of those movies that I need to watch once a year - or more - to feel happy and sad.
This movie made her an Oscar winner for best original screenplay.
If we talk about awards, she has been the only woman to win the golden lion at the Venice Film Festival, with the film "Somewhere".
Last year I won the Palme d'Or for best director at the Cannes Film Festival.

In summary, I think that synthesizes in his film different elements that make me like his movies and that has also been a good formula to reap great achievements.
